Mental Health
It’s true that we are our own worst critics or enemies, as we often hold ourselves to unrealistic expectations. But it’s important we know that it’s okay to ask for help. Beating yourself up for needing help is just a double whammy—already feeling bad and then being mad at yourself for feeling bad makes things feel worse! Caring for yourself as you would care for a friend or family member can cut down on our self-judgement about having worries or concerns. It’s okay to need help—it’s a totally human experience. At CEABA, I aim to provide clients with a different perspective on themselves. A perspective that will help them focus on this moment. The moment is TODAY!
My counselling techniques are to provide clients with skills so they encourage themselves, motivate themselves, empower themselves, set achievable goals and work towards those goals to make a difference today. I work together with clients to embrace the past as a strength to be present and the future as a purpose to live. Utilising Psychophysiology, Bio-psycho-social, Cognitive Behavioural, ACT(Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapeutic skills, I will help you create your own platform so you stand firm in dealing with;
Alcohol & Other Drugs
As a psychotherapist, I understand that substances refer to alcohol and other drugs (illegal or not) as well as some substances that are not drugs at all (such as petrol or glue) that can have a mood-altering effect. People use substances for multiple and complex reasons including to relax, to have fun, to dull emotional or physical pain, or to get away from problems or difficulties experienced in life. The misuse of substances may lead to a dependence on the substance to cope in certain situations. The use of substances to reduce emotional or physical pain or to get away from problems may be effective in the short term however may have serious long-term consequences on health and well-being. Some substances are highly addictive, while others are less addictive. When a substance is addictive, it means that you often need more of the substance to experience the same effects, you might have cravings and urges to use the substance and experience symptoms of withdrawal when not using the substance. Here, my aim is to help clients
It is important to be aware that suddenly stopping the use of alcohol and other drugs can be dangerous and cause harm. We can discuss your options and make appropriate referrals to a health professional or a drug and alcohol service for triage intervention.
